Foxy

This is Foxy. She is the boss bitch of the family. I can say that because that word was invented for dogs. Especially dogs like Foxy. She is in charge of all of the animals in our house, of my parents’ dogs, and of basically every dog she meets. But let’s back up. The picture above is from when I first got Foxy for Christmas from my high school sweetheart the year we lived in Florida together. She was a 2.5 pound ball of fluff with attitude even then. I picked her up to pet her when we went to pick up another puppy but she just kept barking at me when I put her back down, so we brought her home instead. She immediately made it clear she wouldn’t eat anything but actual meat (I did manage to break her down and get her to eat dog food after several months) and almost got shut in the dishwasher trying to climb up onto the counter to reach a pork chop.

We could always tell when Foxy was going to get bigger, because her ears would grow first and get all floppy like in the picture above. During her first year she spent a lot of time tearing around the house at top speed and getting tangled in things (see the bright green fishing line in that picture?). Aside from meat, she also begged for carrots and crunchy pieces of romaine lettuce. She is actually a really picky eater for a dog. I guess you can afford to be when you have a mom like me around to spoil you!

These days, Foxy has slowed down a bit since she’s getting older (I can’t believe she’s NINE already!) but she is still the boss of Reliant who is with her in the picture above. She still plays with him when she’s feeling good and puts him in his place when she’s done. Foxy is still smart as a whip (she knows a ton of commands and learns them easily) and is still a talker, just like the day I picked her up. She’ll always whine or bark to let you know what she wants. We wouldn’t want it any other way.

Update (1/3/18): Foxy had surgery to remove her Cindy Crawford mole because it was growing all of the sudden after over six years of looking the exact same. We’re glad we got it taken care of because it turned out to be cancerous, but since her surgery she’s doing just fine!
