The Good Life

Hello everyone! I know it’s been a long time since our last post, so I figured I’d write up a quick updates post to get everyone up to speed on all of the things.

Seth and I studying for our SCUBA certification class.

Busy season began in early April for Seth, so he has been working like crazy, which is normal for him this time of year. We got new windows in March and new doors in April, and I for sure owe you all a full post on that experience because it’s a big decision and super expensive, but we also LOVE our new doors and windows. We’re also currently trying to finish up our stairwell, which still needs new flooring and a runner installed, and our upstairs bookshelves. Aside from that, Seth and I got the classroom/pool portion of our SCUBA certification recently and will be finishing with our open water dives at the end of the month. I owe you an update on the trip to St. Thomas and St. John that I finally got to take after it was postponed by Hurricane Irma. Seth and I went to South Carolina to visit family a few weekends ago. I’ve been taking a lead role in a fundraising initiative for Friends of the Detroit River, a nonprofit that I joined the board of recently. Seth and I also planned and ran a Native Garden Installation workshop this past weekend, which I think was a huge success. We also cleaned out our garage, had a huge garage sale Memorial Day weekend, and bought a new lawn mower with the proceeds. We’ve been preparing for three weddings in an 8 day span, starting this Friday. I have the honor of being a bridesmaid in one of them, so I’ve also been busy with the dress fittings and bachelorette party that comes along with that. Lastly, on top of all of that, I’ve interviewed for two new jobs and Seth has been approached about some career moves and a possible promotion, so basically life in general is in upheaval, but in the best way. We’ll keep you posted about the outcomes of all of this craziness when we know more.

This course is actually somehow the first time Seth and I were ever in a classroom together!

In the meantime though, I did write a quick guest post for Grace at The Adventures Ahead about how Seth and I developed our dream of running a permaculture farm and how we’re working to get there. So if you’re missing us, you can always get a fix by reading that for now!

I think that’s all for now. More to come soon!
